Sonia holds a law degree from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid and a Master’s degree in European Community Law from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (ICADE).

She joined the Madrid Bar Association (ICAM) in 1993 and in June of the same year she joined Monereo Meyer Abogados, where she has been a partner since 2002.

Sonia specializes in dispute resolution, litigation and arbitration, in civil and commercial matters, particularly in matters with a foreign element and in the application of conventions and rules of private international law.

She is a Corresponding Academician of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain, an honorary member of the Association International de Jeunes Avocats (AIJA) since August 2011 and a member of UIA (Union International de Avocats).

She is an arbitrator of the Arbitration Council for Rent of the Community of Madrid, of the Court of Arbitration of the European Arbitration Association and of the Ibero-American Arbitration Center (CIAR).

She was Dean of the Madrid Bar Association (2012-2017) and has held the positions of First Vice-President of the General Council of Spanish Lawyers, President of the Interprofessional Union of the Community of Madrid and Director of the Fundación Abogacía.
