Michiel Groenland has been a tax lawyer and trusted advisor for 20 years. He is an expert in corporate tax matters, joint ventures, employee benefits, investment schemes, succession planning and dispute resolution (ADR). He has wide experience in assisting (family-owned) businesses and its shareholders, international companies, public and private organizations as well as private clients. That experience enables him to consider the technical issues within the context of what the client is hoping to achieve and determine the optimum strategy in a comprehensive way together with the client.
He started his professional career as attorney-at-law and tax lawyer in 1996. In 2008 he founded with other partners the Utrecht based corporate & tax boutique firm Benvalor and continued his practice independently as Groenland Counsel in November 2015.
Michiel received his law degrees in 1996 from the University of Utrecht on Business law and from the University of Tilburg on Tax law. In 2011 he finished he received a degree as a mediator and recently, he has been nominated as a Deputy Judge at the Dutch High Tax Court.
He is a member of the Dutch Bar (NOvA), Dutch Association for Tax Advisors (NOB), Dutch Association for Mediators (NMv), International Section of the American Bar Association (ABA), International Fiscal Association (IFA) and a honorary member of the International Association for Young Lawyers (AIJA).
He speaks Dutch, English and French.
