Mark Oliver is a partner at RITTERSHAUS and specializes in offering legal advice with a focus on information technology and privacy law, industrial property rights, as well as contract and commercial law.

He advises and supports national and international clients, amongst others, in the fields of software contract law and open source, IT outsourcing and IT project contracts, data privacy and cybersecurity, e-commerce and multimedia law, electronic payment systems, IT compliance and telecommunications law, as well as national and trans-border commercial law and disputes. Mark Oliver also regularly lectures on current topics relating to IT and privacy law as well as compliance issues.

Mark Oliver has been educated in Germany, France, the United States of America and Belgium, and is a qualified lawyer in Germany (Rechtsanwalt) as well as in New York/USA (Attorney and Counselor at Law).

He is based in the Frankfurt office of RITTERSHAUS and is co-chair of the firm’s IP/IT & Data Protection practice group of, a qualified data protection auditor, and an active member of several international associations.

Mark Oliver’s working languages are German (his mother tongue) and English. Furthermore, he understands, reads, and speaks French.
