José Varanda is a Portuguese lawyer, mainly focused on IP Law and corporate law, assisting both domestic and foreign companies in Portugal.

He is partner of the law firm Areias Advogados, with offices at Chaves, Lisbon and Oporto, currently focusing on startup and tech companies, providing them with the specific legal approach they need.

José graduated in Law from the University of Lisbon in 2006 and is registered as a lawyer with the Portuguese Bar Association since 2009. He has also completed Postgraduate Studies on Intellectual Property Law, University of Lisbon, in 2013 and has worked as trademark examiner at European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) on 2010.

He is a member of AIJA – International Association of Young Lawyers and of IAPP – International Association of Privacy Professionals.

He speaks fluently Portuguese, Spanish and English.
